Welcome to the Ohio Learning Community
The Ohio Learning Community is a collaborative initiative dedicated to advancing professional learning for educators and education stakeholders across Ohio. Originally launched in 2019, the platform began as a partnership among several key educational organizations, including:
-
Butler County Educational Service Center
-
Lake Geauga Computer Association (LGCA)
-
Northern Buckeye Education Council (NWOCA)
-
Northwest Ohio Educational Service Center
Since that time, the partnership has evolved. With the closure of LGCA, the Ohio Learning Community now works in collaboration with the Educational Service Center of the Western Reserve and the Ohio Educational Service Center Association (OESCA) to expand its reach and impact.
In January 2022, the initiative received a Future Forward Ohio grant to grow the platform’s offerings. In June 2025, the project was awarded continuing funding from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, supporting ongoing course development, platform enhancements, and the completion of several courses that were initiated during the COVID era.
Flexible, Engaging Learning for Ohio Educators
The Ohio Learning Community offers a wide range of interactive online courses designed to be:
-
Engaging and easy to navigate
-
Filled with timely, relevant content
-
Aligned with the evolving needs of Ohio educators and school systems
Learners can choose between self-paced and facilitated options to suit their individual schedules and learning preferences.
Free, Inclusive, and Equitable
All educators in Ohio have access to a growing library of high-quality free courses. In addition, the platform features paid courses offered by participating Educational Service Centers (ESCs) who are tenants in our system. These paid offerings provide specialized learning experiences and CEU opportunities tailored to regional or content-specific needs.
Built for Connection and Growth
Beyond course content, the platform fosters a strong sense of community and collaboration through:
-
Interactive discussions and peer engagement
-
Resource sharing
-
Cross-district networking and support
Educators can track progress, earn badges, and receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or graduate credit, helping support their professional growth and career advancement.
Always Growing
New courses and communities are added regularly. The platform also supports several statewide Department of Education and Workforce initiatives, with more to be added as Ohio’s educational priorities continue to evolve.
