Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) is a data-driven framework to maximize each individual students’ academic learning, positive behavior, and mental wellness through targeted interventions across three levels of support. The modules of this course provide a foundational understanding of the rationale and critical components of MTSS, an opportunity for assessing the current level of implementation, and an overview of essential practices for success. This eLearning course is designed to equip paraprofessionals to build knowledge and strategies on the topic of managing difficult student behavior. These nine modules are designed in a sequential manner to deliver instruction via videos, short texts, infographics, and brief opportunities for self-assessment or practice that include interactive tools such as card sorts, multiple choice questions and scenarios. Introduces educators to the best practices of Blended Learning (aka-hybrid learning). This method of teaching that integrates technology and digital media with traditional instructor-led classroom activities is relevant now more than ever giving students more flexibility to customize their learning experiences.

Addresses the need for educators to understand the relevance and importance of learning how to interact safely online in their personal and professional lives. When educators understand how to protect their personal information and use digital tools in a safe way, they are better equipped to incorporate best practices into classroom instruction with their students.

This course is designed to create a shared understanding of instructional coaching as an evidence-based, job-embedded professional learning strategy focused on improved student learning and growth. Planning for instructional coaching is based on knowing the coaching context, choosing appropriate approaches, and defining roles. This course also fosters an understanding of the essential coaching components of building and sustaining trusting and supportive relationships, fostering professional learning cycles, and using data to focus the coaching process.

This course was designed to provide educators with foundational knowledge of of the science of reading, the components of reading (Phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension), and structured literacy that is consistent with Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement and Ohio’s Strategic Plan, Each Child, Our Future. Participating educators will gain an in-depth understanding of K-12 language and literacy development and instruction using current research to support educators with ongoing development of instructional best practices using direct explicit instruction.
